My Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus, geez, has started the weird home screen/split screen screw up that I've read about. I don't mind doing a hard reset and deleting everything, but I'd like to save my contacts/pictures first.
Is there any way I can do that without having to install an app on the phone, but just back it up to my computer?
Sync with Google email, Gmail, will save your contacts.
Sync with Google Photo will save your pictures.
When you restart the handset signing into your Gmail account will restore you contacts automatically and re-opening Google Photo will bring up all your photos.
The phone is acting so screwy, it won't really let me do anything. Is there a way to do it without having to use the phone itself?
I just plugged in the USB to the computer, and it won't even recognize that there is anything there other than saying the phone is connected. But I can't look at any folders or anything.
It really irritates me that connecting Via USB is crippled as bad as it is.
But take your phone out of easy mode and thing might look more normal.
There is Airdroid and the Samsung file transfer programs.
That's the problem, the phone's "recent app" button or whatever is screwed and the phone constantly switches back and forth between screens and stuff, I can't really download anything to it.
Downloaded Smart Switch for my PC, was able to back it up. Now to do a hard reset.
Thanks!
And it didn't fix the issue. It's a screen failure. And since my screen is cracked, I know they won't warranty the phone. Ugh at dropping big money on a new phone.
Some options on cheap handests.
New Offer From Amazon which will sell you a handset at reduced prices but in exchange these handsets will have Amazon ads that come across the lock screen (forcing you to see the ads but not forcing you to actually buy anything.)
MotoG4 is $199 w/o ads if bought directly from Moto.
For $50 more the Moto 4G Plus with bigger 5.5" screen
I personally have a Moto X Pure that I bought directly for $299 w/ 32gb on a previous sale. Currently $299 will get you only 16gb but SD card capable to 128gb. I love the handset for it's value. Its only downfall is the camera is just mediocre. Perfectly fine for my needs but not as heavily advanced as the Samsungs (if you even use all the functions Samsung offers with their camera.)

My local Best Buy has an actual Samsung Rep at the store. They have helped us in the past.
