i was hoping for spy shots from the new movie set... but i guess guys wearing tennis balls and standing in front of a green screen doesn't make for exciting behind the scenes imagery..

What, they released more Star Wars movies after 1983?

I hate to sound old, but I agree. With the original movies, Hoth felt cold, Tatooine felt hot, and Dagobah felt humid. CGI doesn't deliver the same thing. It's pretty, but not the same.
In reply to David S. Wallens:
Music has the same problem, this how the sound loop in "Money" worked without a computer to run it.
That's a microphone stand in the background, and multiple tape splices.

Nah, I have some clothes drier drums that are going to be repurposed for that

I watched a documentary of the Dark Side of the Moon, and it was really neat. They essentially had to perform twice. Once with the instruments and then with the studio mixing board. The reason is because all of the sounds that fade in and out, or start and stop, looping and so on and so forth, were all hand switched/faded/start/restart...
The Sound City documentary was pretty good too.
Back on topic, I think the early Star Wars movies were quite good. And the newer ones are just a different take on it. They don't have to live up to the old ones. It's like New York pizza and Chicago pizza, if they were called something different, people wouldn't argue about them being 'wrong'.

I just watched all 6 of them back to back, as I got my wife the 6 pack of blue ray versions for Christmas, that also has a lot of behind the scenes for all of them. I like all 6 movies (grew up on the original ones, having seen the first one 14 times in the theaters when I was just a kid...).
I like all of them. old, new, whatever. I'm not a hater. But then again, I like GM, Korean cars and long walks on the beach so my opinion on this board isn't very good.
I feel that anything George Lucas had any involvement with post 1997 (Including the Star Wars "special editions") is pretty bad at best. To such an extent that I have gone to the trouble of getting theatrical release reconstructions/remasters(google depsecialized edition), and a couple 16mm scans, of the original trilogy on a private torrent tracker. All of which I will seed relentlessly until its no longer necessary. Even ignoring all the changes, the official stuff is a poor restoration, all the dark scenes are way washed out and the color is screwed up.
Han shot first!
i liked the way the prequels filled in the details of what led up to the original movie. taken as a big story arc, it all fits together fairly nicely. but the best part of the Star Wars universe is the Clone Wars animated series...

I hated that because the details all felt forced.

yeah, but everything after the first movie was "forced" anyways.

+1 on the clone wars.. excellent stuff!
It takes on a different meaning if you were a kid who watches it from I to VI. To them its about the rise, fall, and redemption of Vader. To me who's seen IV, V, and VI first, its about Luke saving his dad. Weird how Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi can have totally different meaning depending on how you first saw them.
