I don't see it as cold blooded. Greedo also shot at Han at almost the same time.. I look at it as Han being a cowboy of sorts. Like a gunfight at high noon. Someone was going to die. Even as a kid I understood that.

Machete order: 4-5-2-3-6. Here's the article explaining it. It contains spoilers, since you've never seen the series, but for everyone else it's a pretty solid rationalization, in my opinion. Notice that it omits ep 1 entirely...that's not a mistake. Just pretend it doesn't exist.
That order is nothing short of brilliant.
