I love 5 guys for a chain. My favorite burger in huntsville is at the little dinner. Their happy burger is $6 and it is huge.

My girlfriend and I have the 5 guys vs. In & Out debate rather frequently, with no obvious winner. It seems that, since they are only really available on opposite coasts, after a while with one of them the grass over yonder starts to look mighty green...
The best non fast food burger is made at Monk's in center city Philadelphia.

Walmart has Lick's frozen patties - 4 for $5 and there's a coupon on the box for a free Lick's burger when you order a drink and fries.
Best frozen patties I've ever eaten.
edit
There's a 5 Guys in Kingston on princess street. I just Googled it. Next time i'm on my way to Ottawa, I'll have to stop in.

I've never been there...it's on Jordan right? I'll check it out sometime.
I think Fat Burger is better than In and Out, but their both good. I had Fatburger for the first time last week and was really surprised. I immediately understood why Ice Cube had to go there during his good day.
Hardees is pretty good for fast food but it is deadly. The Counter is good, and so is Habit, but my vote right now, for fast food anyway, is Fatburger.
Meh. best burger i have ever had is the burger at the Buckhead Dinner in Atlanta. Medium berkeleying rare thank you very much.
5 guys is very good but very spendy for fast food. They need to offer a small fry.
Am I the only person who likes Johnny Rockets? We used to have a place called Chee Burger Chee Burger that was also quite good. They closed up shop, at least around here anyway.
Anybody else like Primanti Brothers? P'Burg base, but they have a place on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Actually too big for me.

Yup. It is only open for lunch though.
I almost forgot about the burger I had a few weeks ago when I was in Milwaukee, the place was called Stackd, best burger ever, and 2 for 1 New Glarus as well as many other craft beers on hand.
White Castle is the worst burger I've ever had. Different strokes and what have you, but I'll never understand how people can choke those things down. I took one bite and I was done.

I love White Castles, but I normally only go after midinght when there aren't many other options. As Chains go I like 5 Guys the best though one of the best burgers I ever had was at The National Underground They make a nice size and instead of fries they grill the potatos in the same fire as the burgers. My post used to be on the corner near them and for a year I enjoyed their burgers and live music, mostly older country and newer rock
I don't like the thought of eating ground beef from 100 aged and infirm cows in a Mcburger. If you really want a good burger get a hand meat grinder. Go to the store and buy a nice piece of beef with good white fat in it. You want a think chunk of fat on the meat. Chop up the meat put it through the grinder and you'll eat a burger that puts everyone else to shame. Isn't the easiest way but if you want the best burger it doesn't come from a lousy franchise chain restaurant.

This.
I've been giggling reading this thread with people saying McD's/Hardees/Sonic (uses frozen patties, out of the freezer straight onto the griddle BTW) are good.
Then again, the wife is an amazing cook, so I don't really have much desire to eat out period.
The Oinkster in Eagle Rock LA, CA. Their fries are phenomenal, they make their own pastrami and even their own ketchup.
If you ever find yourself in Oklahoma, you MUST eat at Goldie's. I have never tasted a burger that had that much flavor.
There is a good place on Dixon Street in Fayetteville AR that also has buffalo(bison) burgers, and Guiness on tap.
Wendy's is fair, so is the no.2 SuperSonic w/cheese at Sonic. Steak and Shake makes a fair patty-melt.
White Castle is toxic sludge!
Benzbaron, try Georges in Walnut Creek. They brag about grinding their own meat.
As far as chains go, I don't remember going to a 5 guys. After I first tried In N Out, it became my favorite. There were days where I had 2 double doubles. After a few years back in the real world, I returned to CA and now the thrill is gone. I now prefer Nations. Their's is a little jucier & has more seasoning.
I miss me some White Castle. It sorta makes me want to puke and poop, but it taste good going down.
