View out my work window.
I'm literally the only person here out of my 37 employee "unit."
And now they're sending everyone home, forcing us to take PTO for the rest of the day.
BullE36 M3. What a waste of a trip.

Its impossible to drive that way. Snow is 6-10 inches deep. I went out to my first customer and after getting stuck 6 times in my 2wd dakota said screw it and went home.
My wife works downtown at a hospital and they put her up in the Sheraton on the circle for the day. They are had security drop her off and then they are picking her up for her shift tonight.

That's my issue with all this. Conditions are NOT that bad. If it weren't for everyone else crawling along at 10-15mph with their hazards on, it wouldn't take me any longer to get anywhere.
I'm even driving my stupidly powerful GRM Challenge car.

My only issue is that i'm pretty sure my bumper is going to explode because the car is too low and i'm pounding through drifts with a bumper that's just zip tied to my car.
The highways aren't bad but the surface streets, especially the side streets are E36 M3. If I had a FWD van or AWD/4WD I'd been ok, but I kept getting stuck trying to start from a stop.
As usual everyone forgets how to drive in the stuff from year to year.
don;t feel bad.. people forget how to drive in the rain too...
and I swear that when summer gets here.. they forget how to drive in the heat also
You have a window? You lucky bastard. My whole life I've dreamed of having an office with a window. /monty python

could be worse.. I work in a theatre.. not a single window in that whole part of the building

You have not had fun in the snow until you take a cheap FWD econobox out on smoothed, but not clear snow covered back country roads
Oh, brrrrr. It must be 35 degrees in south Texas today. I think I actually had to put on a jacket. Good thing the sun is out, though.
Oh, BTW, what exactly IS a "snow" shovel?

Thats how you learn to drive in TOKYO!

It looks similar to those shovels used for cleaning up cow/horse/cattle "droppings".

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
the plant where I used to work did that to us once ... a mandatory Sat OT ... it was snowing ... something like 4 - 6" that morning ... an older women in my department slipped and fell ( broke her leg pretty badly ) they got all wound up and freaked out ... ( self insured ) and finally told everyone to go home ... kinda dumb .. we were already there ... the roads would be in better shape later in the day ...
from then on we had an inclement weather phone # to call any morning that even looked like it could be bad ( or if the day before there had been a prediction of snow ) if bad weather conditions were observed then NO ONE (other than maintenance ) was allowed on the property before 6 am .. so they could scrape the parking lot .... this really got berkeleyed up when it was still snowing at 6 one morning
damn, I'm glad I'm not there anymore
In reply to JohnRW1621:
Turns out that if i had stayed i'd be stuck there. They upgraded to "emergency vehicles on the roads only" right after i got home. I'm mostly salty at this point that they didnt close the building first thing in the morning. They KNEW this E36 M3 was coming.
In reply to 92CelicaHalfTrac:
Wow. They never ban roads around here. They'll close overpasses or black ice patches, but never all together.

It's called snow. Separates the men from the boys.

I'm still laughing that you have the challenge stickers still on the car. How many goofy looks does that get you? And how many berkeleys are given?
And I'm always amazed at how folks freak out over driving in snow. Even in pretty bad snow you can typically get around just fine with some good driving habits.
