I have to wonder if the marketroids at these companies are trying to play off of the unfortunate association the public has between EVs and ugliness...making the cars ugly on purpose so that everyone knows they're EVs.

(I don't think the i3 is ugly though...not good looking either.)

I love the interior on this car. Great look. It reminds vaguely of stereo components in the early 80's.

I like this little thing.

The skate board architecture was something we discussed at Clemson when doing stuff at BMW. I can't believe they went with it.

Now how do I shove a 5 gallon tank in the 2.4 gallon spot....

Had and idea today, why don't they have a park and generate mode on these extended EVs?

I know the idea is to plug them in but say for a trip you could pull into a gas station, fill up, let it generate why you go in and eat, come out, top off, and then go again.

What is the appeal of plastic lumber glued to your dashboard? Lumber belongs in walls, under something smooth and clean like gypsum board, not out where you can see it. I'm going to guess I'm in the minority here. I love my 80's melamine cupboards, and hate the look of oak.

It's real wood. The car is built with renewable resources and recycling in mind or something. It looks good in person...very IKEA modern.

Well once my wife gets her's you will hear from me on it. We are something like 63'rd in line at the dealership though. Once people actually have to pay cash I imagine that will shrink though.

Does this one have the factory option of an add on generator to turn it into a hybrid?

It has a gas generator range extender. Unlike other plug in hybrids that will power the wheels this one makes no such pretensions. The 650cc BMW motorcycle motor is used to generate power. Hence the point of my question.

Why not at a restaurant or something be able to set this thing in REGEN mode and let the little generator recharge the batteries.

Why sit around when you can regen while you drive?

The power that thing delivers won't be able to regen and propel the vehicle.

So if you have 80~100 miles on battery and 90 miles of fuel you get about 170 mile range. So you stop you get fuel, maybe a bite to eat. The unit runs while you are doing the other stuff, the battery regens, you then top off the fuel tank and now you have another 170 mile range. Else you are just down to 90 miles from the tank.
