Does it count if you stick a honda outboard into a honda civic?
I'm waiting for someone to stick one of those LS outboards under(more like through) the hood of an old Malibu.
Given how much more expensive outboards are than car engines this makes no sense to me. I can think of much cooler ways to waste money.

Article summary says that they put a 75 hp motor in the car. It's a 7.5.

Maybe it's 75hp the same way a vacuum cleaner with a thin little two prong lamp cord has a 6hp motor?
(just because I am feeling saucy, one horsepower is 746 watts. 6 times 750 (nice and round) is 3000 watts, divided by 110v is a touch under 30 amps. With perfect efficiency. Yeah, I'm not buying it.)

that may be true, but how many houses have 30 amp outlets?

Firehouses.
I dug out my #1 reference book (Tom Johnston's Sports Car Road Racing in Western Canada) and there is an article on the Clifdon Mercury O.B. Special "Lotus 7 like car powered by a Mercury 6 cylinder outboard motor circa early 1960's." The article references the Dan Odenburg Special from Oregon and it was a rear engined car using the same engine. I am quite sure I remember seeing that car known as a Sceptre racing in the 70's.

Those LS outboards sell for C8 prices
True, but people willingly pay to put them on a boat, I figure it's just a matter of time before some (wannabe?)YouTuber puts one in a car.
^^this engine ended up in an old Volvo. I had one on an actual boat (pic below). https://www.thedrive.com/news/4791/would-you-rather-die-in-an-evinrude-equipped-volvo-amazon-or-a-ferrari-shaped-jet-car
There are also some dune buggies around with the 2.5L v6 Mercury, which is fantastic on power/weight and can make 300+hp.
The car wizard on YouTube mentioned that the big four cylinder engines in his boat project were favored by kit car guys I think.
3.7 liter four pot with the marine version of the quadrajet.
I know a guy that needed a engine for his Astro van looked into rebuild his, swaping a v8 or buying a reman on a crate. Weighed the cost and hassle vs HP, and looked at the specs on a mercurser reman 4.3.... it got Mercury 4.3! he loves the extra bump in low end torque. His profile pic is his Astro pulling a water skier!
