When I heard about this book, I couldn't buy it fast enough. I'm no pot smoker, but the Cornbread Mafia is stuff of legend around here. Almost all of this book takes place in Marion County, Kentucky which is literally just over the hill from my house.

In the late 1970's, and well into the 1980's, a small, domestic marijuana syndicate had been growing into a large, multi state, million dollar operation. 70 people were arrested over several years and not one person ever talked. No one ratted anyone out for a lesser sentence.

If you are into true crime books, this is a must read. I will warn you, there is quite a bit of profane language, but it suits the story very well. I think it strikes me so well because it's set in a very familiar setting to me.

Bonus: I bought mine at a local fall festival, where Mr. Higdon was signing his books. Yeah I paid full price, but mine is signed!

CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!

You will not regret it, that's for sure.

Are you familiar with Kentucky at all?

I could easily see that in about 90% of the counties in this state. Clearly isn't enough men for the area they need to cover. I live in the biggest county in KY and there is so much crap that goes on the cops can't find, it might blow someones mind.

I think I'll have to grab a copy. Around here, there's so much pot grown on public land and in the dinky out of the way towns it ain't funny.

This looks like it had been bumped by a canoe. I wonder if the canoe was shilling for Mafia or cornbread?

It is a little ironic that it got bumped as I've been looking with a fair amount of seriousness at property in Eastern Tennessee for cultivation of a legal and licensed hemp farm.
