Gunbroker? That always sucks... and people are insane. It's like Bring a Trailer.
I've been chasing a particular gun that's pretty rare, and for the last couple of years crazy bidders have been driving the prices up to ridiculous levels and it's just become a self-feeding process. Kind of like air cooled Porsches.
Highpowers have been increasing in $$$. What I am looking for are now in the $900. There are ones selling for $1400 that are collector items and complete POS examples that are $600. I remember when $600 would get you a really nice one.

Oh man, at one point I was chasing a Taurus 431 because people speak highly of them and I can always use a 44 special in my life.
Now remember, this is a 20 plus year old Taurus we are talking about. $625, $600, $595 and $750 was what the 4 I was going for sold for. It was 2021 so maybe it's gotten better but , like.....$300 is a fair amount there.
Decided I'd just buy a s&w 69 2.5 barrel for that price, although I never did lol
Good deals can be had for many things on gunbroker but it takes a bit of patience. Certain things though when they spike in value, will never be really obtained at the value they once were. I picked up a PSL-54C on GB back when they were normal prices ($700-$800), and sold it at a gunshow to AK specialist a few years back for just a little bit more. Now on GB the asking prices are all nearly triple what it was a little while back for a bone stock PSL... $2k for a sloppy factory Romanian AK. I updated mine to be an SVD Dragunov clone so better handguard, real deal converted SVD polymer buttstock, and a russian POSP scope. Shot decently and was much nicer looking than stock:
Stock:
How I changed it:
GB is great for when you need some gun parts that simply aren't available anywhere else though... just recently picked up a HUXWRX QD HUB adapter from GB because they've not been available retail for quite a long time. That was main thing keeping me from going ahead with getting a suppressor, now am in process of getting one. Already modded the HUB adapter (cut off the unneeded cage end and ground down/stoned flat to just before the threading) to be able to work correctly with surpressor unit am in process of getting.
The 6mm ARC build I'm doing hit a little snag. The barrel came back in from getting work done (gas block dimpling & feed ramp polishing) and also the Aero MOD 4 handguard arrived in, so had everything needed to build the upper up - which I did yesterday. Got it built up then checked headspace and the go-gauge was WAY too tight a fit and extractor was really chewing up the head. Borrowed a 6.5 Grendel bolt from my dad to check in the BCG and it checked out fine... goes in and out as it should and easy on the brass with no damage at all. So the Faxon 6.5 Grendel bolt I got is no good. Just went ahead bit the bullet and ordered a JP Enterprises Enhanced 6.5 Grendel bolt last night... might be a while until is comes in though, says scheduled to be available near end of the month right now... hopefully doesn't keep slipping to the right.
I will say I LOVE the new MOD 4 handguard Aero... fits beautifully, easy to have it absolutely precisely clocked with the side set screws, and looks awesome. Very stiff as well...noticeably stiffer than a BCM handguard. Think the MOD 4 handguard will live up to it's promise just from handling it... definitely solidly locked in to the upper receiver with that long barrel nut contact surface and has very minimal deflection when loading it.
The lower receiver specifically for it should be in today/tomorrow so can build up the lower soon, only piece missing is the buttstock which keeps getting pushed back. Will put on a basic buttstock have around until the DLG Tactical Modular Precision stock arrives.

I've actually found eBay to be better for gun parts than GB. Generally lower prices, more availability, and better search function. I'm sure there's stuff that's more available on one than the other, though.
Gunpartscorp.com (formerly Numrich) is the big daddy for parts, though they're not what they were 20 years ago.

Check out the Girsan High Powers ... I have not fired one, but they have a great reputation online. For a shooter, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these. And take a look here: https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/741566905254
That site will give you a live inventory search sorted by price. The basic black Girsan Hi-Power can be found for under $400. It's a clone of the mid-80s Browning with the matte finish and extended ambi safetys.

Years ago (1979) I was shopping for a deer rifle. Couldn't find what I wanted and got so bumfuzzled walked out with a 12 gauge Browning Auto 5, cuz that is what my dad shot. They did have a Browning Hi-Power in the display case that was marked $350. I should have bought that instead.

I've been eyeballing them. I've never owned a hi power and think I should get one someday.
I almost bought at Arcus years ago though
So 3,000 FPS 150g 7.62x54R? Yup
Made in Finland? Yup
Is it probably the most feared rifle in so many video games? Yup
May I present to you a 1970 Finish made Mosen.
Now I just need some amo.

I remember when 7.62x54R was cheap!
*sigh*

Is it possible to make these things not spit fire?
Maybe a longer barrel? Or if you did hand loads and had a chronograph, you could reduce loads until the flash was reduced but the speed remained the same. (If that is possible)

I'd call the RH a 30-06, and the LH 7.62 of some flavor. 54r, but doesn't look quite right for some reason.
