I went through a hundred Uncle Ruckus videos and couldn't find one that wouldn't get me banned. "Don't trust them....."

How many of the people in this thread, who are making statements that this is silly or frivolous or a sigb that people today are soft, are white people?

Not in this E36 M3, it was meant to follow up on Kenny's post.

ROFL

Uncle Ruckus is probably one of the greatest characters in cartoon history.

This is exactly how me and a buddy of mine are at work. He is black and i am white. We say some offensive stuff to each other to see who can out do the other. We also see if we can get some laughs out of others at each other's expense. Nothing is off the table, nothing. At the end of the day, we know we are both just busting balls.

This is a shop though, not an office. I have had an office job and this kinda behavior wouldn't be tolerated.

Sadly, 99% of people don't get that. It's an aspect of our (American) culture that's all but completely lost. I generally get along really well with the other 1%.

In my opinion, if you can't handle a kick in the nuts about your race/height/weight/the fact that your mom is a filthy whore, you're no more mature than my 2-year-old.

Ironically, the PC police think they're 'enlightened' because sticks & stones hurt their berkeleying bones.

Not that it's relevant to the OP's post. (It's not.)

the most fun i ever had at work was when a black guy and i would recite the entire opening scene from Blazing Saddles in front of a couple of timid older polite women during our break- you know "back when you was slaves, you sang like birds", etc.- we did it every day for a week before we were politely asked to just stop it because it made them feel uncomfortable...

"I get no kick from coca-a-a-aine..."

(Side note: watched a few 'Uncle Ruckus' clips... Yeah, you better pick your audience correctly for that. I think my cracker ass would be suing for racial discrimination if a boss launched into some of that without a very complete explanation first.)

Uncle Ruckus is a great character... he is the voice that the show's creator uses to tell his fellow black people everything that he sees wrong with their culture, and he is a counterbalance to the main character, Huey, who represents his idealistic side..

Not saying he is not a great character. But he is not a casual one. Definitely extremely satirical. For that satire to work, you need context. Otherwise, it is just over-the-top offensive.

yeah, and that's why it works.. the whole point of Ruckus is to offend people and hopefully make them ask themselves why they are offended..

But that is not the point of being a boss/supervisor.

why not? the boss needs to motivate the employees, and telling them they are a bunch of lazy and useless losers should motivate them to either not be those things or go someplace else that encourages them to be those things..

people are too soft and too ready to be offended these days..

Yes it was.

As a former manager (who will never be that damn dumb again, I HATED being a babysitter), it's a real balancing act. Dropping that particular word in a conversation is NOT a good idea along with faggot, redneck, etc.
