Sale closed August 2nd and took possession last Wednesday. Thought I had arranged for Telus to hook me up, but I did it over the internet and it didn't work. Dealt with them by phone  and first thing this morning they hooked me up to the fibre optic network, so I don't need to go the Village Hall to connect to free WiFi.

Been with Telus for years, and fought for years about phone line quality. I did their song and dance unplugging all my devices and making sure it wasn't -my- fault (every single time I called them). They had their techies come out again and again, and they pulled wire, tightened connections, and swore every which way that it wasn't their line. Always worse if it rained. One time the phone line even auto-dailed 911 for us.

They finally discovered that one of their techs left the box open up the top of the power pole.

When they broguht fibre-optic through, I pushed to have fibre-optic phone lines too, which they did (yay).

Not sure why I'm telling the story.....

Welcome to Qualicum Beach.  It's nice there.

As our real estate agent said welcome to paradise. On to the 911 self dial that happened to us in March, we had rhe rain problem with the old copper lines, so in the wee small hours the Queen's Cowboys showed up asking about the dropped 911 calls. We arranged the next day for a conversion to fibre optics.

I thought everyone who lived on Vancouver island was a mouldy-bearded ex hippy and that they communicated by beating on Bongos.

Welcome to the world of water front. Aside from the pleasure you enjoy every day you should know that while regular realestate appreciates at about the rate of inflation water front appreciates at 3-4 times the rate of inflation.

So as an investment it's really excellent. Your down payment controls many many times the value that is beating appreciation!

We're not right on the beach probably four blocks away as the crow flies, I guess it's similar to Daytona Beach not everyone's on the beach. Waterfront is more expensive than we wanted, sale of the house in North Vancouver should leave us some money.

Well enjoy the location then. Your house will still appreciate a little faster than inflation simply due to association.

Homes on one side of the street bare spoken of 2.4 or 7.1 etc. across the street they are 300, 450, 610 etc.

When I moved in mine it was 107. Today it's 1.5
