I usually don't buy myself anything, but I had some gift cards to use. Well, technically that isn't buying myself something.

I bought a 118 piece Craftsman Mechanics set. It's replenishing the 3/8 drive set that I've slowly lost over the past several years and also replenishing the 1/4 inch drive set that somehow disappeared after I worked on my cousins car.

Luckily this case fits in the bottom drawer of my tool box and will keep everything well organized.

Sweet. I had a similar setup, but every time I opened the box, tools went everywhere, so i went to an old-skool box.

I bought a Hazard Fraught 18v 1/2" drive cordless impact wrench. First tool I have bought in quite a while.

Favorite beer, new tools? It sounds like a good saturday night to wrench on something then.

What's wrong with flannel? It's most of my fall/winter wardrobe. Actually I thought flannel shirts were most gear heads winter wear.

It appears to be a crankshaft to a piston driven engine, but the symbol at the top appears to be a majickal three pointed device.

Flannel says you live in the cold and it is cold out. Enuff said.

I don't buy much for myself either - I've actually been selling a lot of things lately to build up a "slush fund" of sorts. So I bought myself something today too.

Feels good to spend a little on yourself from time to time. Enjoy the tools and the beer, SBF.

Meh, it's been in the 60's the last two days. Flannel Time.

That is still short sleeve t-shirt and short weather to me.

nice looking tool set... looks like the smaller version of mine... cept mine was bought in 12 years or so back... they have come a long way in the quality of their cases it seems... one of my laches is dead and if you carry it by the handle the sockets all fall out (has since new)... but I like how organized it is so I deal with carrying it flat

I tell you what, I've had a couple of Craftsman cases in the last 20 years and this is by far the best one that keeps it E36 M3 together. If you look at the case, it has that secondary lid that locks down that holds down the 1/4 inch drive set together and has indents for all the 3/8 sockets on the other side, which is great.

Like you said, my old ones, as soon as you grab the handle, everything would not stay in place. This case is ages above those.

I bought that same setup as a present for each son a few years ago. Great starter set for them.

There is frost on my lawn right now. I went mountain biking yesterday all day. It was 44 F when we started. About 10:00 is started to mist a bit. That was cold for shorts.

Next time I go to Trader Joes, I'll pick up some crankshaft and try it out.

They may not have it at yours. I think they were only carrying it because its a local microbrew.

Here is a tip, on the bottom case write "DO NOT OPEN" on it as if you open it upside down all the sockets will go everywhere. Ask me how many times I had to put that mess back together. Oh and if you use that as a standalone you'll find that they don't include some very useful sizes, I added a 17mm and 8mm wrench to mine. The only thing I don't like is how a "150pc" kit has at least 30 stupid small tools you'll never use.
