An M-777 was being hoisted by a double rotor Helo when the front cable broke.  You could hear the pilot rev up, but then he cut the load loose.  It dropped to the Australian desert floor and drilled in 10 ft.; hesitated then fell over.  It was shipped to me; I put a laser in the back, a target up front and walked the laser down the bore stopping every 3mm to measure.

Front to back the thing was bent < .010. (0.254mm) OAL.

Time to relax ....

It's funny, you know these old cartoonists had seen some stuff to come up with how things fall, or what it's like to skin an animal, stuff like that. Their experiences have since become cartoon tropes for the new cartoonists, of course
