I know it's early, but the 1969 win was a whole lot more impressive. In 1966, there were 13 GT40's entered and only three finished.
The GT40 was obsolete by 1969 and the JW Automotive Engineering team (aka Gulf) had only two cars with small blocks. They fought with the Ferraris all race, and just squeaked out a win by a few seconds due to some great preparation and strategy. Despite giving up 2.1l of displacement over the 1966 cars, they covered an extra 12 laps. And the winning car was the same one that had won in 1968.
