Yup, it was members meeting. Jochen Mass was driving the Mercedes and it's owner is blaming the Lister Jag driver (Tony Wood). The owner of the Mercedes is blaming Wood, but others are saying it was a brake issue with the Merc.

On one hand it's sad to see the damage, on the other I love the fact that they still race Historic vehicles at 101% over there. I'm sure vehicles like that are insured so they will be back.

Premature lock up can be an issue, just as bad or worse than not being able to lock up. You loose directional control once the brakes are locked.

Not necessarily. That was the first aircraft that would climb vertically I believe (more than for a few seconds).
