They launched one from Vandenberg AFB on January 14th and although my house is about 100 miles away, I had no trouble watching its assent with the naked eye.

I did the math…a 229 foot long rocket @ 100 miles has the same visual angle as 1 inch at 152 feet. I have average eye sight for a 52 year old but with perfectly clear skies and the sun to my back, it was very easy to spot and keep track of.
