You haven't seen E36 M3. That's a direct drive V8. No clutch. Drop it off the stand for a 1/4 mile smoke show. EJ Potter totally earned the moniker The Michigan Madman.

I teach a class on TRIZ and I use a similar image of a multi-bank radial engine as an example of technical system evolution.
Another example...clearly it's time to look for the system that comes after oars.
