I used to love talking old cars with Chip. The man had impeccable taste. Sat with him and the VP at the company Christmas party one year. Just a friendly guy who always treated me nicely.

You haven't seen E36 M3. That's a direct drive V8. No clutch. Drop it off the stand for a 1/4 mile smoke show. EJ Potter totally earned the moniker The Michigan Madman.

I teach a class on TRIZ and I use a similar image of a multi-bank radial engine as an example of technical system evolution.
Another example...clearly it's time to look for the system that comes after oars.

Re: 944s Saw a 944 get on I-71 at my entrance this morning. He wanted to drive faster than I wanted to drive so all I know is that it was brownish
