A friend's Diasio 962 dressed up like the Mazda. A bit bigger than 1/10th scale! Has a Mazda rotary drive-train and is at Daytona with HSR this weekend.

At the risk of being asked to burn my GRM card, what an I looking at?
Straight, longitudinally mounted dual overhead cam engine with a big turbo.
Also, custom triangulated, set back strut tower brace.
The engine bay looks like a NA Miata except the hood is supported by springs so that may be a clue...lots of typical late 80's to early 90's plastic which checks out as NA Miata.
Obviously I'm missing something...inquiring minds want to know.

The tag on the right strut tower screams European car but the brake master cylinder screams 90s Ford, too.
Strut mount pattern looks Volvo 7/9 series as does the ABS unit.
That is a 240 Volvo chassis with an engine I do not recognize. The strut brace is using factory hard points on the firewall. They are there and unused stock. My photo is slightly below the above post, and the area is full of turbo instead of torque brace and alternator
So what engine IS that???
It's not a Barra. Doesn't look like any Mercedes or BMW I have ever seen. Seems too narrow to be a Toyota JZ. Definitely not a Volvo whiteblock six...
