Here's what I woke up to on Thursday.
Conti ECS tires still gripped like Velcro. Even in the rain on Friday.
I do have a new set of Blizzaks waiting for the wheel repair shop to finish welding up all the cracks in my winter wheels. They're decidedly not round, but all I care is that they hold air.
What is life without a turbocharged AWD Volvo. People just don't know what they are missing, do they?
I still say my Golf was a much better winter car. Half the weight, manual steering, and it felt calm and composed on bumpy hardpack at the top of 3rd gear (about 90mph). The 1.8 8v couldn't go that fast in 4th, not enough power.
Plus, I could pretend I was Jean Ragnotti driving a Clio Maxi I'd perfected the ability to reverse, then rotate the car in its own length while shifting into 1st gear, and taking off along the same vector that I'd started reversing in.
