I also spotted a dude driving a newer car with his window down. He was attempting the rest your elbow on the window technique, but the beltline of his car was so high that his elbow stuck up in the air and was about the same level as his ear.
Yesterday in traffic I was behind a Yaris hatchback and noticed it was taller and larger appearing from the rear than a Volvo Cross Country wagon. Remember when those and Outbacks were tall wagons that looked like they could really get it done off road? Now they look long and low and get drawfed by a Yaris.

Parked next to one of these yesterday at work. The bottom of the windshield on this monster is above the top of top of my windshield frame on my Miata. The distance from the top of the front fender wheel opening to the top of the fender is totally uncalled for. What are these things and why does anyone buy one? I know as a nation we are becoming larger, but I thought it was mostly a deal where our collective waistlines were growing. Apparently we are all growing taller too and now need cars that have been scaled up to fit out 8 foot frames.
