I had them as a kid too. Tough little things. True story: I used one to tow a pull string through about 50-60 yards of buried 4" PVC conduit between the basement of our house and the new barn/shop we built. Tied some strong string to the lightbar, fired it up, and sent it on its way. 5 minutes later, at the other end, we could see the lights, and sure enough, out it popped, still towing the string. Used that to pull a cord, used the cord to pull 12/3 wire.

IIRC, I got my first bloody noose from one of those. Had the sprung dump mechanism, but the little damper was gone, so when I put my head over it and unlatched it, it bashed me in the face. Still loved it.

I got the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle that year. By noon on Christmas day, my cousin had stripped its gears. I have not seen him in 25 years, but I have still not forgiven him.
