Canadian Conservative Majority!

Had to share my excitement! It's been too long, I hope they get the ball rolling ASAP And if they screw up, you guys will be seeing communists running the country in 4 years (you've been warned!)

By "It's been too long" I presume you are saying you are nostalgic for the good old days of Brian Mulroney.

I know this is how the parliamentary system works, but just keep in mind that Mr. Harper was endorsed by a lot less than half of whatever embarrassing percentage of Canadians actually got out and voted. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Ohhhh, sounds like sour grapes to me. That only happened 20 years ago, but sure it is valid now. He got rid of the NEP. E36 M3, that's good enough for me (if you aren't from Alberta, you wouldn't understand).

And AFAIK, 59% voter turnout. Not bad considering we have had FOUR elections in SEVEN years Also, I'm sort of happy that the NDP did so well; they have shown in the past to be MUCH more willing to work with the Conservative government over the years. I wouldn't have minded a conservative minority with the NDP being the official opposition!

I don't know what's better, the Conservatives winning a majority, or the Liberals being decimated? They're both great!

Don't care much for the NDP, or minority governments, though.

I expressed my support of the Canadian political system by deliberately not voting.

Im glad they finally have a majority, they did a pretty good job even as a minority, and now being given a majority, they can do even more. A good day for canadians.

I wanted to vote for the Canadian Reform Alliance Party just for the sake of the acronym that made it all the way through their entire screening process without so much as a thought. Sadly, they haven't been around since they boldly announced their newly formed name on the front page of every newspaper many moons ago.

Now please ship a little common sense over the border. We are in desperate need.

Looks like the Canadian people have spoken.

I guess this teaches politicians a lesson about forcing an election, wasting $300 million dollars and ensuring that NOTHING will get done by any party for a good three months.

I don't know as much as I should about Canadian politics. But one of the more liberal Democrats I know is a Conservative from Canada.

And Enggboy is right, we'll still have universal healthcare (proposed increase of 6% for federal transfer payments from the federal government for healthcare which is a good thing) and we'll still have needless social programs that waste money on drug addicts and trying to rehabilitate criminals who can't be rehabilitated. At least the military will get looked after, and tougher crime laws (score!)

This is the biggest pile of steaming E36 M3 that is currently out there.

BTW before I continue I voted Liberal - my neighbour is our former Liberal MP.

The point is that the whole "They didn't get 50% of the popular vote" thing is a red herring.

Does that mean that every other ruling party in those interim years is not legitimate - no!
