My father has two artificial hips.. got his first one at age 23 and the second soon afterwards. He is looking "forwards" to operations 7 and 8 soon as they last about 12 to 15 years before wearing out. He has never let those legs get in his way of doing most anything. A few things he literally cannot do.. like ride a bike or a horse, but that does not stop him from doing almost everything else. His hips would probably last a lot longer if he took it a tiny bit easier on them.. but I think he would be bored stiff
