Yesterday I took in some recycling to the depot. Among the cardboard was the box that was holding the Honda windscreen for my Pacific Coast. Something small and black and plastic fell out. It was the missing trim piece for the right side of the instrument cluster (Yay Me!). It was a hand fabricated piece from the original owner and it was taped over with electrical tape. I removed the tape and engraved into the panel was "Serge". Serge was the original owner's name and he obviously loved this old bike to emblazon his name on it so.

The PC is now dubbed "Serge" in his honor. I never met the guy, and I may some day go find him in my travels when the bike is alive and kicking again.

Also, my soulless 2015 Chrysler 200 has a name that just occurred to me. It's silver and has a winged emblem, but it's nothing special to anyone but me. She is now dubbed "The Silver Pullet". That's spelled correctly.

They earn their names. It takes time.

I've taken to calling my ZJ Grand Cherokee"Yoda" becase it's green and grey( and getting more grey every day thanks to failing paint), and is holding up surprisingly well for its age and miles.

My Miata took over 2 years before my friend suggested Project Barbatos, after the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. In the beginning of the series it's an ancient relic, heavily damaged and degraded and in a state of disrepair, missing a bunch of components. As the series goes on, it gets repaired either with components from units it has destroyed or all new parts, evolving over the series to become a fairly refined war machine. My Miata started as a fairly rough, formerly wrecked car that was missing parts or poorly repaired, that has been fixed up with parts from other cars and aftermarket Miatas. It's also fairly low-powered compared to Gundams in other series and more of an agile close-range melee unit. Of course, being a huge Gundam fan, I approve of said comparison. It also does not hurt that Barbatos is a seriously awesome looking machine.

In reply to NickD:

Nice! My Miata is Brittany, she's little and like to dance. Doesn't sound great but not bad either. Is a bit past her prime but still makes people smile.

The Suburban is Bertha. For obvious reasons.

My e46 is the Puma. I learned to drive stick in it and it spent a good bit of that time snarling and leaping.

The Forester is the Fithpig due to its sloppy handling and usual state of cleanliness after a rallycross.

The WRX is the Bluebaru since we had two Subarus and needed a name for both of them.

I call my dad's 2013 Chevy crew cab Bubbles, because it's a Canadian export truck that found it's way back to the US and the headlights remind me of Bubbles' glasses. This Olds Bravada was dubbed "The Pimpmobile" when my Grandfather owned it. Because of the stripes and the fact that it annoyed him.

I don't remember who came up with it. But it stuck.
