Tons of aging baby boomers (many of whom lived rough lives in their heyday) = more celeb deaths. Just statistics playing out. Circle of life and stuff.

Han solo died (in the movie) Carrie Fisher (Leia) died for real. Kylo Ren turned to the dark side. Luke is the last Jedi. Unless he gets with the baby making and soon, the empire has won.

I'm not sure even the mouse is soulless enough to make a movie where the bad guys win.

I'm going to hw studios tomorrow, where disney is making sw all the things. I'm curious how that turns out.

No, of course not. Some people are taken before their time. Young people die all the time, but at a much lower frequency than older people, and "Boomers" are now becoming "older people". Boomers are now 52-70 years old, and most of the celebs that have died this year fit into that age bracket. They're the first generation that grew up eating fast food. The dangers of smoking weren't yet known for the impressionable parts of their lives. Many of them engaged in less than desirable activities from a health standpoint at various points in their lives.

When you consider those factors, along with the sheer number of people that age, it seems like it's really just statistics playing themselves out, rather than an arbitrary year taking it's vengeance out on our beloved celebs. I think it's likely that the next few years will be pretty similar.

Why can't it be a celebrity that actually deserves to die? Well George Michael was a good start, but Kanye is still alive, the Kardashian clan hasn't spontaneously combusted yet. Carson berk Daly is still running around.

So many celebrities more deserving of a fiery helicopter crash or aneurysm or something. Instead, it looks like Hollywood is just purging the last scraps of talent it had left.

I was trying to make a play on an old Bill Hicks joke with George Michael. He was ranting about John Lennon getting shot, and suggested that "I know where wham lives!"

Poor Bill Hicks, would have been 55 this year...

CF said: For her obituary, Carrie had some personal recommendations from this 2008 article written by Carrie Fisher: Remember the white dress I wore all through that film? George came up to me the first day of filming, took one look at the dress and said: 'You can't wear a bra under that dress.' 'OK, I'll bite,' I said. 'Why?' And he said: 'Because ... there's no underwear in space.' He said it with such conviction. Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn't see any bras or panties anywhere. He explained. 'You go into space and you become weightless. Then your body expands but your bra doesn't, so you get strangled by your own underwear.' I think that this would make for a fantastic obituary. I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.

A little irony for you guys…the individual commonly regarded to as the “father of modern day statistics” just so happens to be named R.A. Fisher.

Think of all the people that are coming here to see pictures of a scantily clad pretty girl only to be epically disappointed with an old math guy…serves you right you horny bastards.
