All I wanted was a bike with frickin Lazer beams for tail light. Is that too much to ask?
No experience, but one will likely be mounted on the back of my bike before spring.
My first thought is that you'll need to aim it down at a really steep angle to avoid blinding people when you lean over.
I've seen a bunch of these for bicycles lately of varying price levels. Most of them in that case have the blinky light like normal but also project 2 lines on the pavement to create a "mobile bike lane" kind of idea. I haven't used one - I'm not convinced it would make any difference to you average cell-phone-absorbed driver.
If they can sell laser cat toys for $4 at Kroger that project pictures of mice, why not snazzy tail lights.

got something pretty high quality that works very well for what it was designed from the groupon after dark section once, maybe you're buying from the wrong categories.

They are. They are normally billed as a rear fog light or such. Aimed down and creating a pattern through the fog and on the ground. You still keep and use your regular brake and tail lights. These just supplement them. Personally, I like the idea. Especially because it's going to look odd and hopefully catch the attention of whomever is flying up on my rear end.
Though I suppose somewhere there will be a Barney Fife who will insist it's illegal and give someone a ticket for having one on their car or bike.
My bike doesn't lean over enough to blind anyone 
I would need to see one in real life to determine if it was bright enough to be useful prior to putting it on my bike. But if it is plenty visible, I will put one on.

My first thought is, like LED taillights, it's another reason to drive with your eyes closed in traffic.
I'm curious. How hard would it be to ramp up the power so I can shoot out the tires of the jerkoff riding my bumper, or the bulbs of the butthole with his high beams on behind me?
