Read this.
Seriously, read it.
You will appreciate life just a little more having read it.
Especially the end.
Don't skip it.
Wow! My liver hurts just reading that. Impressive!
In the misery loves company department:
I, too, have made a career change. It was by my own hand, and coupled with a move of some 200 miles. May 15th will mark two years bouncing around temp jobs, working like a 20 year old (I'm 46), and general suck. I'm currently in a way overpriced furnished apartment. This has become my theme song
Like pilotbraden said, at least you've got your health

Sorry buddy I feel your pain. My girlfriend’s contract ended in early July and since then I’ve been carrying the whole load.
Like you she gets great interviews but no offers. Well no offers since she accepted a job in January and then got a much better offer from the same company which she accepted only to go through all the on boarding stuff pass the required security checks and physicals etc.
1/2 hour before starting work it turned out the job went away. They were seriously sorry but no job. Not even the first one at much less pay!!
In the same boat, but not as long. Blind-sided at work on Jan. 30. Still negotiating severance package. Also going through a separation at the same time. Very high probability that I will have to leave the boys behind and move out of the area, as jobs making what I was making are scarce around here.
