racerfink wrote: The car BROKE. Plain and simple. He was in the pits having the vibration looked at, when they sent him out to catch up to the field so that he didn't get lapped sitting in pit lane.
Did it break, or was it made to break intentionally? I smell a conspiracy! Shades of Senna????
so - my question is why was he allowed to be out there going full bore while there were safety workers on the track?
nascar fail on the officials part
In reply to patgizz:
Umm, JPM wasn't going "full bore".
Yeah, he was traveling at a much higher speed relative to the nearly stationary dryers but he was doing what Nascar specifically allows - driving to catch the pack and staying low on the track at a reduced speed while doing so.
If the speed was 50mph and something broke at the wrong time/wrong place, the same problems could have just as easily occurred.
Sometimes, no matter what precautions are taken, E36 M3 happens. That was some spectacular E36 M3, but worrying about it is like putting a cast iron roof on your house to avoid meteorites.
Everybody is given, and owes, one life.
BoostedBrandon wrote: It was plenty bad, that was just much less than what a plane uses, so I'd think it was as bad, just a smaller scale. Since when did they put the dryers on the track for debris? I thought they always just picked it up.
they use the dryers all the time when a lot of stuff gets thrown on the track- they pick up the big pieces and use the blowers to blow the smaller stuff down off the banking into the grass. they also use it to blow most of the oil dry off the track after they lay it down when someone lays a trail of oil after they blow up.
i wonder if they had an in car camera in Juan's car? that would have to be pretty damn intense if they did...
How many nascar drivers does it take to crash into a jet truck? Just Juan.
What are the chances that the crash could have happened? Juan in a million.

I made it through about 10 laps of the formation car parade and got bored... oh well. LOTS of hype, not a lot of results. Did anything of interest happen in the last 10 laps or so? (other then a parade line of brightly colored cars that it)
Yeah, two more larger crashes and a green/white/checker finish, with Dale Jr. trying to pass from third to first in the last corner.
