Have started to see them on the road. Pretty damn sexy GM!
Saw one yesterday in the office parking lot, top of the line LTZ trim with the panoramic sunroof, black on black with contrasting color baseball stiches in the leather seating. Even the insturment panel was trimmed in leather, really nice looking. Car looked smaller than it is, looks smaller than the 2013 model. Impressive
What's crazy to me is that TTAC was complaining about the new Impala, and saying the outgoing model was going to be the last and best Impala. What nonsense.
I love the style and interior of the new model. Wish it was RWD, but it's a darn good looking car.
Some thoughts:
-Great looking front end, and looks good on the road. Only thing I don't like is that body line that droops off from the rear of the car forward. It doesn't ruin the entire experience.
-It is HUGE!!!
-The interior looks great, but that is one of the ugliest steering wheels I have ever seen. Just awful.
-Like everyone else, I wish it was RWD. Yes, I know they make the Chevy SS now, but still....
-That giant gold Chevy badge they put on everything now is just awful. They need to make the bowtie in other colors.
According to an article in C&D, that (strange) line that starts in the rear doors and moves up and back to the taillights is supposed to remind you of / harken back to the 1st Impala...the 1958.
As far as "bow ties" in different colors, I seem to remember reading somewheres that Chevy / GM was going to use different colors of bow ties on different models, but it looks like they may not have. Supposedly, hi-performance / SS models would get red, or was it blue bow ties with hybrids getting blue, or was it green? Other special models / collector editions might get silver or gold if there was a significant "anniversary" being commemorated.
As far as the 2014 Impala, I like most of it, I don't care for the "patches" on the top of the dashboard, especially when they are in contrasting colors. This looks like a copy / rip-off of some other car (Lexus? M-B? I forget who, exactly) and to my (VERY) conservative eyes it borders on tacky.
BTW, look at the outgoing model of Impala, it's hard to see it but it also has that weird contour in the rear fender area, it's so shallow it's hard to see, but it is there.
In reply to integraguy:
Chevy started colored Bowties in the 80's up to the early 2000s (though not all at the same time).
Blue = Passenger Cars
Gold = Trucks
Red Outline = Performance Models
The couple of new Impalas I've seen, I've had to do a double take both times. I think Chevy has designed a modern version of the Impala that is worthy of the name. It is a huge departure from the boringmobile (design wise) that it has been for almost 2 decades.
But in all honesty, Chevy screwed up. The new SS should have been renamed the Caprice (V6 and V8 lower trim models) and the hi-po version would be called the Impala, just like it once was. THAT would have made sense.
I actually miss the days where the performance models had a different name.
In reply to SyntheticBlinkerFluid:
It goes back and forth. For a long time the Impala was the base model and the Caprice had all the options.
Chevy,
You continue to impress the hell out of me. Keep up the world class engineering and styling.
Sincerely,
A Ford guy

It doesn't remind me of the '58, it reminds me more of 4-door Chargers and Avengers, but the Impala pulls it off a bit better.
As for the grill bow ties, I'm sure the aftermarket will tool-up '70 Chevelle SS style badges and other bow ties as soon as the licensing from GM gets approved.
I wonder if a stripped down Taxi version will get a Biscayne badge? That and Bel Air haven't been dusted off in a long time.
I like the gold badge and think it looks particularly good on my black truck. A simple fix is to give it the 3M carbon fiber/vinyl wrap. Would look good on most colours.
IMO... the gold badge looks great on trucks, and totally out of place on passenger cars. That's a lovely car to drive. Great highway cruiser.
I think the gold bowtie on this new Impala looks good on that grille. However, I will say that it doesn't look good on other models.
I like the outside, very nice for a big sedan. The interior, not so much. But I'm not a fan of most modern interiors.
