I've got a gun on me, and you draw a weapon and shoot my dog, my next assumption is I'm your next target. Yup its gonna backfire on you.
You would shoot a cop because they shot your dog? I don't think that would end well for anyone involved, but most of all you.

We have 8, 6 rescues 1 born with us, 1 given to us from a breeder friend. 2 are in training to be therapy dogs, all have been socialized and trained. The only aggression I've seen out of any of them has been towards a dumb E36 M3 UPS guy, who instead of letting me get a hand on the dog when he pulled up just got out of the truck and started kicking at him. They are our kids, wife has health issues that prevent her from having kids. So yes, if you shot my dog for no Damn reason in my front yard you would likely he shot yourself. Call it defending my home and family, as I said, my next assumption is that myself or someone else is your next Target. Oh and the badge doesn't mean anything once you start shooting for no reason.

You would get shot and, if you survived, go to jail for life. Just keep that in mind as you plan your shooting spree. I love dogs but those are facts.

this.......let alone the fact you'd end up in jail for awhile by actually having a loaded firearm with you leaving your immediate property in illinois anyways.

Skip the jail part. You'd be dead. I'm a dog lover, but you'd be dead. (I'm reading this as if you'd fire at a cop. Every day Joe on the street who shoots at my dog will not survive pending circumstances.)

In my state, if someone were to pull a weapon on your animal without probable cause, you have the right to use lethal force to protect your pet, but this will become a very harry situation in court when it comes down the the "he-says, she-says" argument.

If your animal is a threat, you're in big trouble if you pull your weapon on that other person.
