i was watching that race live when it happened. if Terry's car was so much faster and better, then how was Dale able to keep up with him and be in a position to "rattle his cage" in turn 3 of the last lap? everyone there and everyone watching at home knew Dale was gonna do something. Dale wanted that position more than Terry wanted to keep it.

they are racing to win, and if winning means that you get moved out of the way by the "chrome horn", then so be it. i remember that particular event as the moment that i realized that NASCAR was becoming a mainstream sport- anyone that didn't "play nice" was automatically the bad guy.

the difference between Dale Sr and Kyle is that Kyle thinks he deserves the position just because he's Kyle f'in Busch, Dale thought he deserved a spot because he was willing to work to get it and fight to keep it.

KB is one of the most talented drivers to come along in NASCAR in years, he's the kind of guy that can drive the wheels off anything. I really, really wanna like this guy but every time I think it he says or does stupid E36 M3. No doubt it's immaturity, kinda like the 'phase' the young Smoke and others went through. Maybe he's trying to live up to that 'Rowdy Busch' monicker... and who knows where the hell that came from other than maybe his PR agent, I just ain't seein' that. KB has it made, def has the talent, he just needs to mature to be a total class act.

And speaking of immaturity, Childress should know way better.... but this is N ASS CAR... and I shouldn't expect the professionalism known in other racing series... but I still do. My bad.

Come on now. Watch the footage again, if you haven't already. Labonte didn't pass four cars in three laps by being slower. Dale waited until he passed, and dumped him. In another lap, Labonte would have been long gone.

Dale Sr. has become the new Robert E. Lee. He has a cult who will defend him against absolutely every criticism, no matter how deserved that criticism is.

He got it from Darrell " no, my hair was always this orange" Waltrip. I would pay Childress' fine if he went on TV sunday and toss Darrrell out of the booth never to be on my TV again.

The biggest problem I had with Earnhardt was that he had no problem pushing someone out of the way but thought that hewas untouchable. When Ricky Rudd spun him to win and later when Jeremy Mayfield did it at Pocono he seemed angry like it should never happen to him.

the way I saw it ( it's possible that I'm wrong about this... but don't think so )

the only way Dale was going to make that corner with the worn tires he had was to use Terry's car to slow himself down enough to stay on the track... as someone else said ... Terry had passed 4 cars in 3 laps.. ran down Dale pretty effortlessly and passed pretty effortlessly ... was going to need 1 corner to get the car back under him and would have been gone..long gone...

maybe nothing as an owner (he would have expected his driver to take up for himself).... but as a driver ???? there might have been only one Busch to contend with for the rest of the season
