E36 M3 people. The man's got two years to lose the weight. If he wants it, he can be in fighting shape by then.

So your viewpoint is that most people are overweight because they just can't help it. Seems legit. Anything that says otherwise isn't considered a fact as long as it's delivered via web link?

I agree that his weight SHOULDN'T matter (i really couldn't give a E36 M3 who is overweight and who isn't, there's nothing i can personally do about it), but reality says that it does. No amount of stupid arguments on a hilariously argument-prone-when-there's-an-inkling-of-politics message board is going to change it.

Simple: If he wants a better chance to win, he'll lose about.... a half of himself.

Sorry for not including the link in the earlier post. I didn't think finding information regarding the health of the US Citizen would be considered magic. YOu know, instead of just using Google.

I'd also point out that you keep trying to make a generalization from a case study, but I suspect that is "craft" as well.

All I have to do, and have done, is show that being overweight is not always a choice. You're the one that made the generalization that it's always a choice. But more importantly, whether it is or not for a certain person, it should have no more to do with electing a president than skin color. Of course that part is my opinion.

To be fair, I was specifically talking about Christie (ya know, the title of the thread!). He elected to get a potentially life-threatening surgery to PHYSICALLY restrict the amount he could eat because he couldn't refuse 3rd and 4th servings of food.

In regards to others, I agreed with you that IT IS NOT A CHOICE FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But for most people it is, that's why I looked up thyroid problems.

I guess it was inevitable that this one got floundered, it's just a question of which direction.

If you START a thread as a political argument, you can't flounder it into politics. It becomes about fat, or Hitler, or Hillary's old age, or whatever.

I think a candidate's health is a completely valid reason for voting for them. Remember when it was an issue for McCain? It was scary to elect a man that is 113 years old when the next in line is a special needs person.

Christie will have to pick his VP wisely. When that man's heart pops like a ripe zit, who fills his shoes?

And I actually like Christie...

But there is an interesting point on all of this, floundering or not. Christie has to be President on TV. Will the American people elect a guy that is obese, whether he can help it or not?

TV Presidents essentially started with Kennedy. Not a single fat guy in that list. They are all relatively tall. 6'1"+ Average build with good hair and somewhat handsome. There is a "look" that the President must posses, I think the question that is really being asked is:

Does Christie have the "look" of the President?
