Anyone noticed the new "You're too stupid not to get piss-drunk and light your mattress on fire" smokes? Not sure if Marlboro is just being proactive or if it's a state-by-state thing, but jeebus, it's berkeleying annoying. If you're not constantly puffing, the cigarette will go out on you.
Also, FYI, I won't name names, but I finally registered with the "big" tobacco company's website, and now get $4 off pretty much every time I buy a carton. Not trying to encourage others to smoke, just lessen the sting of the new taxes.

Yea most cigarettes here in Ohio are FSC crap. I just found a gas station that sells Kamel Reds that aren't FSC so I picked up a pack of those.
For the most part I roll my own with good quality tobacco from the tobacco store, natural papers, and filter tips. They taste much better than any I have bought.

MN has the fire safes too.
Or quit... at Mother-inlaws supporting my wife/her as she starts to try and start chemo to stall her stage 4 colon cancer.... its everywhere.... Life long smoker.
I know... the "stop smoking" is such an annoying thing to hear from the non-smokers... but this just reminds me even more about the risks.
I've quit a thousand times....... Gonna quit again tomorrow.
I love when a non smoker says "just quit!" like it's a matter of just not buying them anymore. If it was that simple I don't think there would be any smokers left, I mean smokers don't exactly like funding all of the US's programs with their $3-4 a pack tax.......... /end rant
Yeah, WI has had the FSC for awhile now, worse to me are the Marb lights. they seem to go out the quickest.
Gonna try Chantrix next, we'll see what happens there.

I smoked about a pack a week for about six months when I had connections to free cigarettes. Then didn't have the access to free ones anymore, and just quit. Wasn't hard at all for me. I'm pretty sure its genetic, my dad was the same way when he worked for a tobacco company. Never got the urge after maybe a week or so**
Now my best friend is trying to quit, and he's having the hardest time ever with it. It doesn't help that he's been smoking since he was 13.
** My exception to this is if I'm within close proximity to the smoke. For some reason, I love the way the fresh smoke smells. Can't stand it though if its not from a cigarette being smoked right in front of me, and stale smoke makes me wanna puke.

I know I've said this before, and I'll say it here again.... quitting is purely psychological. The physical addiction leaves the body after 72 hours. For me, it is purely the action associated with smoking. That is my 5 min to get my head right before I proceed with whatever.

If you aren't trying to quit, completely ignore this.
If you're trying to quit, have you ever heard of/tried electronic cigarettes? My aforementioned friend is trying them. You look like an idiot cause it has a blue light at the end of it, but hey, its kinda working...

Nonfilters are the way to go. Either lucky strikes or roll your own. I don't like that tampon they stick on the end of a cigarette.
I guess if you are going to smoke buy indian smokes because you don't have to pay all the taxes on them. I saw someone getting a pack up in frisco 6.85$ for a pack of camel lights.
I can no longer smoke though my lungs can't handle it any more. Lucky I guess.
I never understood the desire to even try a cigarette, why would you want to introduce a cancer loaded smoke into your body to poison it slowly but nearly assuredly.
The cigarette companies have the best marketing ploy ever.... weak minded people will do what their peers tell them is cool.
Sorry if that offends you, but if you get annoyed tell me why you smoke that is based on truth and actual facts.
-
Smoking poisons you, so your metabolism speeds up to remove the poisons so the argument that you lose weight is based upon you being too lazy to eat less but willing to poison yourself.
-
It is impossible to relax you when it does the stated poisoning.
-
No financial reason at all.
-
Smells when you do it, you smell after you do it, everyone around you is subjected to your destructive habit.
-
I think Ive annoyed enough of you but I could continue.
PS The traditional method of playing Russian Roulette gives you a one in 6 chance.

It ain't just you. My Winstons do the same damn thing. If I come upon a pack of traffic and leave both hands on the wheel to get through it, the damn thing goes out. I have never fallen asleep with a cigarette, and really think it's more dangerous to take my eyes off the road again to relight. Especially at night, when the glare from the lighter (now 2 in. closer to my eyebrows) messes with me.
Last I read, 21 states already have the laws and about fifteen more are considering it.

Aussie, all I can say is that I was a very violent young man when I began smoking, and less violent afterwards. I see no reason to quit, if I'm just going to spend that longer life in jail for beating somebody up.

One reason really, because most smokers start when they are teenagers and as we all know teenagers do stupid things. When you get to the point that you wish you never started, it is usually extremely hard to quit.
BTW I do not consider myself a weak minded individual, I just happen to have a vice and a desire to quit said vice, just like the great Barry Obama. While our president might be a bit berkeleyd, I don't think many will consider him "weak minded".
I'm also staying back away from this thread as I can tell that this will turn into another thread where I wished I kept my keyboard shut.

From Thank You For Smoking:
People, what is going on out there? I look down this table, all I see are white flags. Our numbers are down all across the board. Teen smoking, our bread and butter, is falling like a E36 M3 from heaven! We don't sell Tic Tacs for Christ's sake. We sell cigarettes. And they're cool and available and addictive. The job is almost done for us!
I'm an ex smoker, smoked for 15 years quit for 30. Much of it's mental, the more drama you put into 'QUITTING SMOKING' the harder it is. Once you get past quitting smoking to 'I don't smoke' it becomes easy. Oh yeah 30 years on I still have an occasional urge for a smoke & every 2 or 3 years I'll take a puff or so but now they taste like burning sawdust so it's not hard to stay straight.
And yes, it's not unreasonable for the gummint to think that if you're addicted enough to smoke you're likely addicted enough to smoke in bed.

No, not really. After all, everything you said is true, but I'm still smoking..
It's difficult to explain. I really did feel much calmer when I first began smoking, but after becoming addicted it really didn't do the trick as well. Of course, that's still not going to keep me from mentioning that IIRC, the beginnings of modern "road rage" seem to coincide with society's turn against tobacco in the mid 1980s.
EDIT: the road rage thing is supposed to be a joke, I just forgot to pop in a smiley..
One last "I ain't quitting!" joke..
A man stood on a street corner having a cigarette. A young couple passed him by, and the young woman said, "..you know those things will kill you, right?" The smoker replied, "My grandfather lived to be 92 years old."
"Oh, and I suppose he smoked?", mocked the woman.
"No, but he knew how to mind his own motherberkeleying buisness..", said the smoker.
I have never been accused of minding my own business.

No sweat, mate! I'd just rather crack jokes with everybody when we disagree, instead of turning it into a screaming match like every other forum seems to do.
You got that right, sometimes I left my fingers talk before brain kicks in but all here seem to take my spouting off with good cheer, and I am rarely serious, just opinionated

I'm a former smoker and I say just quit... that said I'll admit that for most people it'll be one of the hardest things they'll ever do....
I smoked for 27 yrs... in Viet Nam as much as 4+ packs of Camel nf / day .... been quit since 4/94... wasn't easy and for many yrs after I'd make sure I got myself down wind of a smoker just so I could inhale / smell them...
no of course I'm a smoke nazi
3 of my 4 grandparents had dementia or Alzheimer. The 4th died of old age at 83. She was the only one that smoked. I'm hoping lung cancer or heart disease gets me before I loose my mind.
