But it's too much extra for the poor College Athletes. Nope:
-The 8 games that make up the 16 team bracket are in place of the conference championships so no extra games played by anyone.
-The 4 games that make up the 8 team bracket are teams that all would have likely been in bowls anyway so no extra games there.
-The 2 games that make up the 4 team bracket are extra so that's 1 game extra for 4 teams.
-The 1 game that is the championship played by 2 teams is extra so that is 1 more extra game for 2 teams.
So 2 teams play 2 extra games and 4 teams play 1 extra game. Not an entirely unreasonable burden on College players if you ask me. This is College football though, so somehow they would screw it up.
Most of the college football players I've ever talked to, that have no aspiration to go and play in the NFL, hate the idea of ANY extra games.

They would most likely be on one of the 94-103 teams that wouldn't be in any current bowls or future playoffs so it wouldn't matter to them. Even if they were one of the 16 teams that made the playoffs they would need to make it to the final 4 to actually play an extra game. 4 teams out of 110 (or 119 depending on the google number I choose to believe) actually play any extra games.
4 teams is bad enough. 16 would be the death knell of college football.
One of the main things that makes college football great is that every single game is critical. Rivals can make up for a lost season by beating there hated rival and taking them out of title contention. NFL games in september mean nothing, where as in college football they are still critical.

Truth. It won't matter what format it is in the SEC will win it.
