I saw stuff in the news yesterday about flooding near boulder, and didn't think much about it. Now I hear this is widespread, down to Ft. Collins, maybe Colorado Springs.....

Check in and let us know how you are doing.

Funny how I didn't hear anything about that bit of bad news, but I heard about some very positive changes made in the state legislature.

Stay safe!

No problems on this side of the mountains, but I'm supposed to drive to Denver today for a track day tomorrow. It's not in the worst areas, but I am starting to reconsider...

I have a co-worker who lives south of Boulder in Eldorado Springs. He had some minor flooding at his house yesterday and was evacuated yesterday afternoon.

I thought I was going to make it to the gym (in west Arvada) after work yesterday via back roads, but the po-po had Indiana Street closed at a 96th Ave.

As long as you stay out of Boulder county and away from roads that parallel a creek you should be fine. The Interstates are open.

I'm pretty sure you'll only need this if you're looking for excitement on the back roads...

One of my dearest friends is in Lyons. Talked to her last night.

Good news: She's in one of the only spots in town that's above water, and as of last night, still had power.

Bad news: ALL of her friends are homeless and staying with her. Her dipE36 M3 recently "ex"-boyfriend conveniently "forgot" to pay the gas bill, so she has no stove, and, ironically, no water.

I started telling jokes to lighten the mood (which they did.) Unfortunately for her, all I know are what would generally be considered horribly offensive jokes. Turns out, I apparently did a 45 minute long routine for a room full of offended hippies, as she had me on speaker

Hoping to hear from her today. As of 11:30 last night, the rain hadn't stopped and there was no end it sight.

God, that sucks!

(both the housing situation and your jokes )

No, seriously, I hope that this ends fast before more people have their homes ruined.

Yeah, I get the feeling she doesn't like me as much after last night. I know this will come as a shock, but I tend to lose my filter after about 6 whiskey drinks. Ever the optimist, I said "Hey, look at it this way: You were looking for a roommate. Rent just went up, motherberkeleyers!" She apparently does not have the same evil capitalist outlook on life as I do.

Putting people on speakerphone without their consent is evil

I just got off the phone with Paul Dierchow (owner of Sports Car Craftsmen--- Arvada CO) They are OK, but North of Boulder---- all the way up to Wyoming is in pretty rough shape--- especially if you head West from I25. Roads are washed out and impassable, even Interstate I- 25 is closed from Longmont to the WY border which is nuts as 25 is the main N-S artery for Denver.

They haven't had a flood anywhere near this bad since 1965. It's going to be a mess to clean up.

I like 'evil.' I asked like 5 times if I was on speaker. "No no! I've just got a house full of insane people."

She and I both grew up in south florida, so we're used to flooding, and "hurricane parties." The people staying with her just lost everything they had. Apparently Lyons gets like 7" of rain annually (from what she told me.) I guess all the dams in the mountains overflowed or busted with all the rain. It's berkeleying tragic. Personally, I'd like to think I'd be swimming my ass to Oskar Blues to "rescue" the beer. Of course, I'd keep a tab and bring a big wad of cash when all was said and done.

Stay tough/weird/friendly, Lyons CO.

Wait. You have a filter?

And yes, putting you in speaker without notification is evil. Her hippy-dippy friends should be offended they didn't have enough brain cells to go turn the gas back on at the side of the house/street.
