My 8-year old and I saw this one go up at 8:15 last night, although we were over 100 miles away. Still pretty cool, in spite of thin clouds and a nearly full moon threatening to spoil the view.

I watched the shuttle take off from 8 miles away. Amazed at how LOUD it was at that distance. Also got some of the fumes from the rockets. Bad eye irritation. Had to take my contacts out, could not drive home until next morning. But super impressive. Shuttle did not leap up the way this one did.
