I love my 12" Rigid Sliding Dual-Miter saw. I use it probably once a week for little projects around the house and yard (I'm always build or modifying shelves in the garage for better storage capacity).
Thing is, it's a beast. I'd put it permanently against a wall, but its slider makes the thing need a 4' wide table. Too big for my garage.
I built a table on wheels for it, but that's not working. I don't use it often enough to warrant such a large work table in the garage.
Porter Cable offered a folding miter saw, which was rad, but the saw itself wasn't the best quality.
Are there any low-profile "out-the-front" slider miter saws like Bosch, Metado/Hitachi, or Makita offer, but in a lower price bracket?
Having just spent a lot of time trying to figure out which miter saw I wanted, the smallest one I could find is a 10' one. Which still makes is pretty large.
One alternative I considered for a long time was to convert a 7" circular saw into a miter box. There are a number of pretty good ideas out there for that- including some that slide as well. I didn't go that path, as I needed the saw much sooner than I could fabricate one.
When you really go over what you do with the saw, you can eliminate some of the features- what angles do you need, does it need to slide, etc- and since you have a full sized table that probably does it all- you can simplify the design of your small one quite a bit.

I got a really good deal on a Kobalt 7.25" sliding miter and have been happy with it:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-7-1-4-in-9-Amp-Single-Bevel-Sliding-Laser-Compound-Miter-Saw/3512783
I'm not sure where it ranks among "quality" brands and components, and I don't use it every week, but for my basic homeowner jobs it's been fine. I got a good deal on it because the laser cut guide didn't work, but that's not important to me.
I have a Makita. With the deck rotated to 45 degrees, it's only about 20" deep. It sits on top of a shelf in the shop. When needed, I set it up on a plastic folding table.
You might also consider something like this for your current saw. This one is a Rigid, but a bunch of companies make them. Roll it out, use it, fold it up and lean it against the wall.

Folded up, it doesn't take up much more room than a hand truck.

How about something like this design? It puts the slider rails out the front to put the saw tighter against the wall. Or am i misunderstanding the problem?

That's a $600 saw and a $200 stand for $69? I have no need for one and I'm tempted to order it just to see if they ship it.

Let me know how that goes. Might i suggest using a prepaid visa card, not your real card.

Outletits haha
"Have you noticed that Greg's wife suddenly seems...uhhh...stacked?"
"Oh yea, she wanted implants but they couldn't afford it, so she went Outletits."
Anyway, yes, I want an "out-the-front" sliding miter similar to that Makita. Just not $600.
