I've found an online source of nautical maps but can't figure out how to deal with the files for printing purposes. My wife wants to use them as DIY wallpaper. I researched the .KMZ extension and have found where they can be used inside Google Earth. But I'd like to store the file and take it to a print shop in order to get it printed on a large format printer. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Here is an example URL: http://atoll.floridamarine.org/Data/KMZ_files/nauties/11013/n-chart_11013.kmz

Thanks Grtechguy. That seems to explain how to print from Google Earth, but not necessarily how to import an existing .KMZ file to print (unless I'm missing it).
My boss maps out job sites and emails me kmz files. To load them in google earth all I have ever done is just double click on the kmz file. I wouldnt be surprised if you could just drag and drop the kmz into an open Google Map session but I have not tried that.
I just tried the method GRtechguy linked to, and the exported image does show the loaded KMZ file.

Thanks for the additional tips. I can't load Google Earth onto the machine I'm on at the moment, so I'll have to wait until this weekend to try it.

Since the .kmz file is a compressed file I did this:
- Downloaded it to my computer
- Changed the .kmz extension to .zip
- Unzipped the file to a folder using WinZip
- This created a folder containing a file named doc.kml and a sub-folder containing a bunch of file with the .png extension.
I was able to view the .png files with several of the picture editing software packages that I have. The .png files are obviously parts of a large chart and I have not been able to find any way to reassemble them into a format that could be transferred and read by standard graphics software.
EDIT: After reading the grtech's method You could use Power Point to assemble the .png files into a large image. You could look at the .kmz file in Google Earth to see the placement of each .png file.
My simplistic approach is just use the snipping tool
It should be able to be opened in ArcMap or QGIS and saved as a .tif or other image file format. I could try it if you have an example in mind.
