I've spent way too many hours trying to get a Hauppauge tuner card to scan DTV channels OTA. Two different processors, three different motherboards, four different OS's (all Ubuntu variants). Card is recognized, drivers are loaded, no channels found. I've used MythTV ( my eventual goal), Kaffeine, and the w-scan utility. All recognize the card, but will not find channels.
Anybody watching live TV on a Linux box? How did you get there?
I'd suggest the tuner card may be deffective.
I haven't used a TV tuner card in a long time, but do you have the antenna hooked up and have you tried moving it around? The last one I used needed all the antenna it could get.
I believe you're local to me, I'll offer up a Windows box to help determine whether the card is defective.

Yes, I'm close to the towers--nearest one is less than 10 miles away. Antenna is well-located in the attic. I can pull all the stations I'd expect to pull with the antenna connected to my tv.

That's the same conclusion I'm coming to. I have an RMA request in to the manufacturer. It's just that I don't ever recall a computer part DOA right out of the box, and I've been building systems a looooonng time.

Intriguing! Tell me more. I'm frequently near White Oak (Laburnum and I-64, near the airport) and I'm downtown once per weekday in the mornings, VCU -- Siegel Center area.
I'm on the other side of the county from you, sounds like - Glen Allen/Innsbrook area. Maybe we can find a weekend/evening where you bring the card to me or I bring the tower to you.
