I wanna learn. Bought the elegoo starter kit. Looking forward to this. What automotive, or just plain cool in general, things can I do with an arduino? I realize the elegoo R3 board is small and slow, but eventually I will get to bigger, better, badder.

I haven't played with a "bread board" since I was a teen in the 70's! I really need to try to learn something like this. Thanks for the push... I will be following along to try and learn something.

Thinks have sure changed since then, and this looks like a cool way to learn.

I've since found you can use an arduino as an Ecu for EFI (basically a cheaper version of megasquirt), Home automation, speed controller for electric powered vehicles, robots controller, I can even make a gps/gforce/accelerometer/lap timer. Cintrol drones, RC vehicles, etc.

you can make a CNC controller .....

hydroponic system, data logger, light controller, robots (on many of the boards, there are specific robotic IO systems).

Not that I've been overly successful, but micro controllers can do a lot.

The one thing I will mention- check the IO for ability.  I got one of the super small boards, and there are no actual analog i/o channels on it.  It can do lots of digital things, including digital inputs from sensors.  But in my very minor work- once you get past the stage of making them work, and you have specific plans- you need to do some shopping to make sure what you are getting is capable of what you want to do.
