Still largely cut and paste verbiage.

I would like to add a paragraph requiring the doctor to wear a set of rabbit ears on his head every time he does a medical procedure on her just to see if anybody is reading the fine print.

The word "science" and the phrase "in my opinion" certainly seems to be used interchangeably now a days.

This is what makes me so mad about Neil Degrasse Tyson. I dunno if he coined this phrase but he's definitely repeated it. It goes something like "That's the great thing about science, you don't have to believe it". It's a dogmatc statement that makes it hard to question the 'science'.

That statement has another meaning.  You don't have to believe it.  Read the article in whatever peer-reviewed paper and conduct the experiments yourself, or alternately, come up with another hypothesis, a way to test the hypothesis, and write a paper for peer review.

I looooove the conspiracy theories that hinge on all scientists everywhere agreeing with each other for whatever nefarious reason. (Flat Earthers and Moon landing denialists top this chart) That ALONE is enough to peg the bogositymeter laugh

During Neil Degrasse Tyson's intro to the remake of Carl Sagan's Cosmos (improved by including plenty of woke P.C. stuff to appeal to those that don't really care about science) he correctly laid out the elements of the scientific method.  However, a quick YouTube search of NDT debating various professional scientists that don't agree with his views revels a completely different person.  Everything he said about following the facts, challenging assumptions, etc. gets completely replaced with mockery and ridicule.  A lot of people think NDT is fantastic but I just see a pompous sellout giant feminine hygiene product.

Got it this morning.  No issues, in and out in about 35 mins because they made us sit for 15 minutes to verify no allergic reactions.

People shouldn't say we believe in science. They should say we understand science and the scientific method.

beliefs are for things we cannot measure like Santa, the Easter bunny and the his holy the great pastafarian the Flying Spaghetti Monster( ramen).

Oh boy! I love a good philosophical definitions debate.devil

To me, when you really boil it down, you have to believe something in order for it to be true to you. In general, humans tend to honor the most common belief by calling it "truth".

Science does happen to be a pretty good method of convincing others of your beliefs.

So - there is no truth without belief?

Science is a pretty good method to convince others of your beliefs IF they believe in logic or science.

Try living for a couple years in a place that actively believes in voodoo (and sees it's results regularly). Science was a E36 M3ty way to convince anyone of anything when I lived there.

There is no "truth" in science. Laws and hypotheses and experimentation.

At least the Nazis could make the trains run on time. I still have a bad feeling about this.

Are we talking about our soldiers that got caught, had one arm cut off one day to feed enemy soldiers, then next day the next arm, and then next day a leg, kept alive the whole time so their meat couldn't rot?
Seriously man, I don't know you, but your comparing  info like Covid deaths vs ww2 deaths is strait horrible and wrong. As a fellow American to another, please unplug, this path is going to lead to self destruction of yourself and others.

No, we are talking about the ones that will never make those trains that were always on time. 6 million were outright murdered. Not combat deaths, but straight up murder.

Human beings have always been better at killing human beings than any virus ever encountered. This virus isn't a tragedy, it's just nature doing what nature does.

And with that, I'll bow out of this one for a bit.

I was not the first one to bring up the Nazis. Nor was I the first one to bring up cannibalism, castration, self destruction, the end of the world or dogs and cats living together.
