I have 3 elderly relatives in the  hospital with Covid right now:

  • My mother's 92 year old sister.
    • - fell down and broke a bone in her back.
    • Needed surgery.
    • Caught covid in the hospital.
    • Docs give her days to live.
  • My dad's 95 year old first cousin.
    • WW2 vet.
    • Two weeks in ICU.
    • Released from hospital but covid brought him into deep dementia so he had to go into a old folks home.
    • Toughest old guy you ever want to meet.
  • My dad's 83 year first cousin.
    • Professional Engineer who gave me my first engineering job.
    • In hospital, not ICU, they think he is slowly recovering but you never know.

Yeah, it does suck, my wife's friend's dad just died from it Friday night. He was 76, diabetic, had kidney issues as well. Went into the ICU for 2 weeks and his lungs were so bad they said there was no way he would survive outside the hospital. Started bleeding internally, so they let the family come see him, and slowly turned his oxygen down until he passed.

It sucks to be in this situation.  My sincere condolences for having to go through this, regardless of (expected) outcome.

This is the stuff I hate the most.  We're so close to these people getting vaccinated.

Positive vibes sent your way, brother.
