I get it. I mean, I've been around here for a while and I really do hope people take my comments with a grain of salt. It would add too much reality to realize there were actual humans on the other end of this infernal machine :)
I like the banter and the good humor. Sometimes even the bad attempts at humor. Sometimes I even argue a position I loathe for whatever reason. Probably because every actor wants to play the villain. But I can honestly say I've never spent time here and then was angry or frustrated by an encounter - I just don't roll that way.
I have, however, between laughs... got good advice, seen some really amazing/humbling workmanship, learned a thing or two about threesomes (never berk their daughter or it's quits) and maybe helped someone elses' project along a bit a time or two. So, meh, I wish Adrian well but I don't get the dramatic exit at all. It's entertainment that is occasionally educational.
That was entirely too serious. So ummm... er... this is awkward

Well said.
Adrian, I hope you do return after a short break. I enjoy your posts and I think by and large the good outweighs the bad here in our little corner of the internet.
And for what it's worth, I would rather someone make an exit post and let us know what is up, than just mysteriously dissappear after being a regular here. Some may call it "dramatic", but thats just like their opinion, man.
Oh, he won't be gone for long. I'll see to it.
I get annoyed about every year or so at the PC police. I vent feel better and move on. Taking a brake is not a bad thing.

I agree. I was called a bigot earlier this year by an indignant, self-righteous Goober Dork for what was obviously a light-hearted comment intended as a joke. I considered bailing out after that but decided not to let some PC twit spoil my fun. This country has gone way over the reasonable line with the PC nonsense, and there a few on this board who embrace PC-ness to a fault.
I might add that although I only have a little over a thousand posts and I'm still a mere lowly Dork, I've been a member of this forum for a long, long time (longer than many who have far more posts than I). I find it humorous at times but disheartening at other times how the pecking order and credibility here seems to be based on post count rather than longevity and experience.

I must have missed a good....errr bad thread. I didn't see anything recently that I thought would have caused a forum hiatus

I posted a "hah, gay!" meme from the tv show Community in a thread this year and received a nasty-gram from someone who didn't have the balls to put their username in the email.
I pointed out to them while I respect their opinion and point of view, it doesn't mean that I have to censor myself so their feelings aren't hurt. Additionally, if that meme truly offends someone, they need to get out of the house and get laid or something. I've been called a lot worse things in my life and being the grown-up I am, I shrug it off and move on. If I took offense to the word "nerd" as much as people do "gay", I probably would wind up in a psych ward

For god sakes, remember all the "Blew a Tranny" comments talking about a transmission and KatyB wigging out?
We are an immensely diverse group, which is fine, and like others, I will defend my own personal hobbies to my last breath. I can be swayed to a point on nearly all topics, but certain people on here just cannot be or don't know how to take no for an answer. I sometimes do wish I didn't have a "to the point" personality and could be a bit more eloquent.

Good, I mean, who else is going to defend vans over trucks?

Needs more threesome, pics or ban.

I think it was a cumulative effect.
I saw your last sentence and my thought was,"I hope he doesn't get bedliner on his hiatus."

What's wrong with you? you're actually making sense today.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
Back on topic, Adrian, do what you feel that you need to do. But don't run from or avoid something that you enjoy the majority of the time because of some minor unpleasantness. You don't know know much time you have to enjoy your hobbies and your friends. Waking up everyday to the reality of pancreatic cancer helps put things into perspective from time to time. Waking up to sometimes intense pain, not being able to sleep when you want then passing out randomly at times, having been riddled with holes from surgery and having skin flake off and hair shed from radiation can make a day suck. But it's another day, and it's another day that you've woken up.
Stop being a twat and life your life how you WANT to live. We're all on borrowed time, don't wait for others to be surprised that you're still around week after week to start living that way. So suck it up, grab a beer and botch about what suck with the rest of us. If you need to take a breather for a minute, so be it, but don't sell the car because of a few burnt out pixels.

Taking a "break" would be a better thing
I hope to see you again soon Adrian, sorry you felt it was necessary to leave, even if it is temporary.
I just back off when I feel I am getting too involved in the other stuff posted in here, sometimes I just follow the build threads and nothing else for a while. I cant imagine leaving permanently.
I have had a few confrontations over the years, but they were the exceptions not enough to make me want to stay away.
PS, I think you need to come to a few events or else it is just a club of people who talk about cars, come to a Challenge and see what these geniuses can actually do with a rusty POS, three lengths of bailing wire and a sharpie

Another example of this are the people that have to chime in to threads that involve California, Florida, or New York to tell everyone what stupid places they and/or they will never live there. What does that add to the conversation?
Well, it adds that persons opinion to the conversation. Whether you agree with it or not it's a persons opinion and is just as valid as the person who say's "I love that area, spent many years there and had a great time".
People have different opinions on many things. When you come to a public forum and ask a question it's a little myopic to expect everyone will agree.
Not all opinions are equal, and we've done the country and the world a disservice by trying to make people believe that every opinion is of equal value. I know very little about medicine, so my opinion on medicine is nowhere near as valuable as the opinion of a trained doctor. And just stating that it's your opinion doesn't absolve you of the responsibility of knowing what you are talking about. I'd listen to Keith's opinion on Miatas before I'd listen to someone who's never owned or driven one. His opinion on that subject is backed by experience and that makes his opinion more valuable.
The internet has given voice to every opinion on the planet, no matter how ignorant or stupid, and we need to not say that people get a pass on ignorant negativity just because it's their opinion.

Hey dude. It wasn't me, but all of the PM I've had showed the username in the subject or something so I don't put it there either when I send one. Just a thought.

Sorry just going to say what everyone else is thinking. Why the hell do you need to make a whining public announcement that you are not going to post on the internet. Holly crap this is what happens when you don't keep score in little kids soccer. Should have just titled this thread "I'm a little bitch and I need attention" What happened to men acting like men. My I suggest you get some testosterone injections.

It was an email. We had a nice conversation, I wasn't rude, just stated that if GRM has a problem with it, they are more than welcome to ask me to take it down, or take it down themselves.

PM goes to E-mail directly. So, if I PM you, it should say something like "GrassrootsMotorsports message from Tuna55" or something. Here, I'll try it.
