And right next to the litterbox. Daily.
We've changed litter, litter level, boxes, cleaned out every day, reqarded for using the litter box, etc. Hes getting worse, not better.
I am sick of it. Before he becomes homeless, what can we do differently?
Hes indoor only, about 2 years old
Take him to a vet. It could be a medical reason.
In reply to Cooper_Tired :
No. We clip his nails though.

He's trying to assert dominance, you need to show him who's boss by pooping in the same spot.

This is my thought, too.
Is he an only cat?
Did he recently start?
If yes to either or both, he's trying to tell you he's not feeling well or is stressed by something.
The only time our indoor cat went outside his box was when we were late changing the box, or when the cat had a urinary tract infection.
He did it as a kitten when we first got him. A d now intermittently for the last few months. We keep thinking we found the problem, but we have not and have run out of things.
We'll make him a vet appointment i guess.
If he's stressed, a Feliway diffuser near the litterbox might help. Good luck, I've had to deal with a cat with severe behavioral issues, and it is not fun.
First, do a vet visit. Make sure they check his paws.
If he's all clear there, he's probably stressed and nervous. Try adding another litter box somewhere else. If the litter box isn't covered, try using one that is.

Alternatively, if the litter box is covered, take the cover off.
At the root of it, if he knows how to use the box but has stopped, he's telling you something is wrong. Sorry I can't offer anything more concrete to go on.

Good point. As long as he gets a clear bill of health, another litter box would be good. Years ago, I read that if you have x number of cats, the ideal amount of litter boxes is x+1.
my girlfriends cat randomly started peeing on the bed, what solved it was getting a second litter box and making sure both stayed clean as possible
There will not, under any circumstances be another cat in my house when the current one croaks. My entire basement is covered in litter dust and smells like E36 M3. I will die on this hill.
So anyway, I've already started picking out funny cat names for when the next cat arrives.
Moms cat does the same thing. She has tried absolutely everything.
It just really prefers to crap next to the box. She has given up and puts puppy pads next to the box and changes them accordingly. It has no problem doing it on the pad. It pees in the box every time.
My sister found the cat in a dumpster seventeen years ago. We can count on one hand the times it's pooped in the box.
I ordered a feliway diffuser.
Ill make a vet appointment today.
Wever tried covered and walled litter boxes with no difference. We have not tried two.
