I have a day off all to myself tomorrow and I am looking for suggestions of things to do or places to visit in Vermont and up-state NY.
Any suggestions welcome.

What are you driving (or riding), how much time do you have and how many miles are you interested in traveling?
In reply to APEowner :
I'll be drving my DD Mazda5 and I have from dusk till dawn. And I don't care for the distance as long as I can make it in that time period.
I'm interested in anything car/plane/sightseeing related.
Don't know what your starting point is, so it's a bit hard to say what's within driving distance. If you like history, there's Fort Ticonderoga. Lake George is entertaining, if kitschy. Saratoga Springs and Burlington both have their charms, though in quite different ways. Plenty of hiking and such almost anywhere.
The Saratoga Auto Museum is worth a look. Route 9N up the west side of Lake George is a nice drive. I don't know if the ferry is running but if it is you could take that from Crown Point over to VT. If you're a Treky you could check out the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour, Located in Historic downtown Ticonderoga.
Not much intesting in upper NY. couple hrs to the ADKs. Vermont is good.
In that time frame it opens up a lot of things to see. Lake Placid and the olympic areas. Whiteface Mtn. Adironack Museum (plan on a couple hrs. there)
There are various web sites for info on places to go.
Route 17, aka the App Gap, up and over the mountains is Vermont's little version of the Tail of the Dragon. I'm five minutes from it.
Shelburne museum.
Folino's Pizza on Route 7 in Shelburne and Fiddlehead Brewery in the same building (if you like IPA).
Route 100 to Stowe.
Burlington for food.
Ben and Jerry's in Waterbury on route 100.
Stowe mountain road to the top of Mt. Mansfield, the highest point in VT.
Costello's in the Marble Works in Middlebury for lunch. Best damn Italian deli around and the sandwiches are awesome.
Drive south on either I-87 or NY 9 to exit 29 , Frontier town closed, future welcome center. Take Rt.2 west to Rt 25 to Tawhaus, and abandoned iron mine, could get a look at the high peaks. Back down to 28N through Newcomb, nice viewing area for the high peaks. Continue on 28N to Long Lake. Take Rt30 to Tupper Lake, home of the Wild Center. Continue on Rt 3 to I-87 and Home.
Appleseed said:Old Rhienbeck Aerodrome. See airplane that are over 100 years old fly.
Great destination! My first airplane ride ever was at Old Rhienbeck. 1930 New Standard biplane. However, to most of NY, Rhienbeck is down state.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
I ended up taking a tour of the Saratoga automobile museum (nice little museum).
Then I drove to Hemmings Motor News headquarters. Their shop/expo was officially closed but they let me in. That was very nice of them.
I was suggested to try road 100 in Vermont which was a very nice scenic road. It connects to route 17 which is a fabulous driving road. I wish I would have driven something sportier for that. Thanks for the suggestion vwcorvette
