I openly prefer physicaal media. However its nearly impossible t9 get good discs locally anymore. Best buy sucks. Fye is all but dead.

Plenty of places to get DRM-free music these days. But I do buy physical media sometimes. Amazon has a great selection of music.

I've bought many an mp3 album from Amazon the last couple years, all DRM-free. The #1 reason I have never bought an iTune ever.

It may be"DRM-free", but it's wholly dependent upon an electronic copy, or Amazon's servers remembering that you bought it and are allowed to listen to it.

Yes, to the former, no to the latter. When I put it on a thumb drive and listen to it in my car, Amazon has nothing to do with it. Yes, it's an electronic copy, but it's mine and I can copy it and back it up and put it on as many computers and devices as I want. There's no physical way that Amazon or anyone else is going to stop me.

Somehow i dont think thats on accident. Deadpool is self aware enough thay E36 M3 like that might be done just to berkeley with you.

Eh, DRM and what added benefits may or may not come with it is just another factor in how much I'm willing to pay.

For me, a DRMed product with no additional redeeming qualities is worth about 15-25% of its DRM free alternative for something I doubt I'll care too much about in the long term (say 5 years out).

For example, lets say we're talking about music in digital form. And there's an album that I'm digging, but know it's not likely to remain a favorite forever. If the DRM free option is $15, then $5 for a DRMed version is fine with me. If it grows on me more than I thought, and gets bumped up to long term favorite status, maybe I have to pay the extra $15 later. In that case, I've probably listened to it so often that even $20 is in 'who cares' territory when compared to the value I got out of it. And if I listen to it a bunch for 6 months to a year and then don't care anymore, I saved $10.

Software gets more complicated, but similar logic applies.

Uh. I bought the mp3 album(s). It's on my desktop. And my iPod. And an external backup hardrive. (I'm not talking about whatever Prime music service or anything.) EDIT: now see the "electronic copy" comment, I focused on the server-thing.

I must say it made the new X Men hard to watch with a straight face. "House blowing up builds character". Resisting the urge to shout "For Winterfell" when Jean Gray decided to kick butt also was hard.

Time to watch deadpool again.

FYI, when you watch Deadpool on Air Canada, there does not appear to have been any editing. I figured it would have been sanitized (and thus about 15 minutes long), but no. Fair warning to those taking kids on the plane.
