...commonly referred to as GRM since it's way easier to type that than "Grassroots Motorsports". So, I hereby suggest making my life, and others' easier by buying the domain name "www.grm.com".

Thanks, Mike

I've tried. The people sitting on it want insane money for it. I mean, like Dr. Evil "one billion kajillion dollars" insane.

Would make a LOT of things much easier.

People who sit on Domain Names are lower than pond scum. Lower than the stuff that sticks to the bottom of pond scum. Lower than the crud between the toes that sticks to the bottom of pond scum. Lower than...well you get the point.

Firefox lets you save if you hit "Save and Quit" Just go back to the GRMenu and save and quit.

If you don't have FireFox, I understand why you can't figure the "favorites" issue as well!

With Firefox, you can actually give your favorites "nicknames". Mine is set up that if I type GRM into my address bar, the forum comes up.

I just have it as my home page so I can always hit the house thingy and it goes right to the forum, and when I start up the infernet it's right there staring me in the face.

I'm sure there's people sitting on pretty much every 3 letter acronym. Can any tell me how often you have to renew domain names? You don't just get it for life do you?

I wondered if anyone used that custom icon fit the iPhone

My dad owns the domain name for our last name, and has been kind of sitting on it for a while. It also happens to be a name associated with some rather affluent corporations. He's gotten significant offers for it, but has not yet received what he claims he'd be willing to sell it for.

He knows he's asking an exorbitant amount, but says it's kind of tough to put a price on your own name.

Afraid someone will confuse a massive multinational corporation with him? Yeah, I imagine that could ruin his sterling reputation if said corporation had a major incident...

By the way, my last name is for rent for 19.95/mo.

The JHPS Web site is jensenhealey.com A few years back, the guy who runs it got a letter from a law firm in Switzerland claiming they owned the domain name and the was to either cease and desist or pay an outrageous amount. Turned out they had jensen-healey.com, not the same.

Can I sue UPS for making my workday harder? Everyone around here expects "Brown" to take care of it all...

I show you what Brown can do for you.

I'm not going to give Salanis' dad a hard time. It's one thing to hold onto a domain you have a good reason to own, even if you're not doing anything with it. It's another thing entirely to snag up thousands of domains and hold them for ransom. The latter, in my mind, is pretty close to extortion.

I agree, there's nothing with sitting on a family name or something else you have legitimate reason to own, but those "name grab" cybersquatters really make my blood boil. I remember recently when that plane crashed off Brazil, there was a story about a guy who owned flight###.com and it seemed suspicious. Turned out he just bought flight000-flight999.com and was sitting on them like a berkeleying parasite >8(
