My buddy just replaced the alternator on his 2001 Altima. The part was more expensive than the alt for my 85 911.

The people that drive them......not all of us are shiny happy people. I own Chevrolet, Pontiac, VW, Ford, Jeep, Dodge, GMC, Austin Healey, Buick, Toyota, and various brands of motorcycles. So when you see some dude driving a 911, which you hate, he may well have several other cars he drives you may like.

The parts I bought for my Porsches were no more expensive than ones I bought for the MR2 Turbo or any other assorted other cars. Some are pricey, but then some parts of almost any car short of a GM are pricey. I've bought stuff for our Honda CRV that was way, way more than for the Porsche.

For the record, I think Grandma would leave a brown streak if she went around the 'Ring at full GT3 or even Boxster pace. While it may be easier to drive, 10/10ths in any car is more than most people will want to do, especially in a car with limits that high.

hmmm, i have a brand new set of 924t main bearings on the shelf in the garage. they can be found, just have to know where to look. while im not a huge fan of late models, I think anything P-car prior to the mid 90's, is pretty much art on wheels. and better yet, its racey art!

Beauty is completely subjective. Personally, I don't find Brad Pitt the least bit attractive.

Our Canadian Car of the Year testfest finished today. After trying the R8 Spyder, SLS AMG and CTS-V Coupe, I had to revisit the Porsche to see if I felt the same way. Abstinence it is.

Considering that Porsche is selling trucks and sedans 2-1 over sports cars these days, I might get apathetic too. How often do you get to flog (or even drive) them? From what I hear, even the Cayanne is fun once the revs climb and the tires start to slide.

I love Porsche's (and most other exotica) but they don't invoke lustful feelings within my soul. They're too expensive to buy and maintain; I can't drive them anywhere near their limits on public roads - and I don't have a private track in my back yard. And I don't need them to stroke my ego or diminish someone else's.

Were I a journalist (or journo-lass, as in Lesley's case), I'd drive what was offered, enjoy it and walk away knowing there are rewarding alternatives.

I'd have to say, as another happily married male, this makes her infinitely more desirable, in a totally intriguing perspective. A woman that can be moved so much by something typically dominated by the male species (Sabine notwithstanding) is a rare bird indeed. I suspect a prospective Mr. Lesley would be a lucky man, indeed. Or unlucky, depending on what she drove that day.

After all that whinging and crying, I went to a vintage race this weekend and fell back in love with Porsche. All it takes is a few hours of uncorked flat six goodness at full song. Mmmmmm.

They are still ugly.

I don't get the ugly bit. Here's the one I drove, I thought it was beautiful.
