Wife and I are driving down to Gatlinburg for a weekend anniversary getaway. We'll be there Friday evening, and Jen wanted restraunt recommendations for that evening.
As for food, I'm down for anything. The wife.... well, that's complicated. She doesn't eat anythign that once swam, so no fish/seafood(though seafood in the middle of the smokies would likely be sketchy or frozen IMO). There must be seed-free options as we don't want a hospital visit afterwards. She doesn't do spicy, apparently I'm enough (though I like it hot). So basically american-ish food for her.
So any locals or anyone that has experience opinions welcomed.
This isn't the forbidden question is it?
I've been there 2x. In 1992. I'm afraid my memory wouldn't be much help to you.
Did you know all this about the wifey, prior to marriage?

Part of this has happened since. She developed diverticulitus so the seed thing is since 2011. The spicy and seafood thing has always been. If she unknowingly eats a small amount of seeds (the smaller the worst) they start an infection in her large intestine within a week. So I'm ok with it watching for it now. After spending a week in the hospital with a 3 hour exploratory surgery looking for the perforation this is much preferable.
Ah bummer! Hope you find some good dining options that suits you both
Is there a Golden Corral or some other sort of nice buffet? How about a steak house? Can't get any more 'Murican than steak and a bake potato...
Eggs. Can be had many ways.
Not sure how far a drive it would be but theres a Mellow Mushroom over in Pigeon Forge. Or at least there was many years ago last time I was down there.
I was there earlier this year. The Peddler steak house was amazing. Pricey, but excellent food.

She found that one last night. that may be the winner. Also got a recommendation on a good mexican rest.
So, thanks to the weather, we only went out to eat once. Friday we got stuck on the "mountain" for over 2 hours waiting for the thunderstorm to pass. Didn't get back down until 7pm. After the 6.5 hour drive, the 3 hour ski lift excursion we were ready to get to the cabin and sleep. So we grabbed a pizza and beer on the drive back to the cabin, ate hopped in the hottub and passed out.
We did eat at the Peddler. Great ribeye. good beer.
We also went to Clingman's dome.... only to not see 500 feet. Rain, wind and fog. Roads were great. I imagine the views are awesome too. Couldn't tell you!
All in, even though it rained the entire weekend and Gatlinburg is a congested tourist trap, we had a great time.
Far too late for a recommendation, but the Brazilian steakhouse Gaucho Urbano in Pigeon Forge is an exquisite and expensive way to commit suicide by meat. They also have one of the best salad bars to confuse PETA with...
