I saw that this morning in the news. For some reason in my head I thought they had found all the parts already. 

Incredible such a large piece is still at the bottom of the Atlantic.

I wonder how much effort they put into recovering all the parts.  This was a manned mission and there was an investigation into the cause but generally rocket parts that end up in the ocean, whether accidently or on purpose, are just abandoned.

that was a way bigger section than I was expecting to see. does anyone know what part of the shuttle that is?

Looks to be a chunk of the belly or the underside of the wings. The ablative tiles for re-entry are visible on the surface.
